Cromex Will Present Its New Act Green Masterbatches Range With Sustainable Solutions for Plastics at K 2022.

Cromex Will Present Its New Act Green Masterbatches Range With Sustainable Solutions for Plastics at K 2022.

Transformers who visit Cromex at its stand F37, in hall 8A, will be able to discover its new line, which brings a complete package of solutions for improving the performance of the process and the quality of post-consumer resins, making recycling viable and reducing carbon dioxide emissions. Cromex is associated with Think Plastic Brazil, Portfolio of Solutions for Exporting and Internationalization of Brazilian Processed Plastics Industries, created by the INP (Brazilian Plastic Institute) in partnership with ApexBrasil (Brazilian Trade and Investment Promotion Agency)

Reducing carbon emissions with rC-Black

Among the solutions that make up the Act Green line, the highlight is the rC-Black, black masterbatches of high quality and performance, which uses in their composition the carbon black pigment obtained through the reprocessing of used tires. For the past 2 years, the line has been helping the company and its customers to achieve their ESG goals. The process for obtaining the pigment does not use fossil oil and reduces CO2 emissions compared to virgin carbon black, an important factor for companies that are committed to reducing carbon dioxide emissions. Currently, Cromex transforms around 100,000 tires/month into masterbatches, which means annual savings of around 5,000 t of fossil oil and around 5,000 t of CO2 emissions, thus acting to reduce the accumulation of waste that pose risks to the environment and human life.

Recycling black parts with the NIR line

Another solution that will be presented is the line of black NIR masterbatches, capable of enabling the recycling of black packaging in PE, PP, PS and PET, as they are carbon black free, allowing the identification and separation by type of resin via FTIR (infrared) for recycling.

Improvement of the process and quality of the recycled materials

For recycling, the company presents a complete portfolio of additives to improve important properties of post-consumer resins (PCR) that have suffered losses, such as loss of viscosity, yellowing, bad odor, humidity, among other problems that make challenging to achieving quality and performance of virgin material. Among the additives, there are odor reducers, which encapsulate the characteristic smell of the material, modifiers used to improve the mechanical strength of films processed with recycled resins, antioxidants, which reduce changes in the flow rate and physical properties during thermal processes as well as prolong the life of the material, desiccants, which capture moisture during the process, improving performance and reducing the occurrence of defects in the plastic film, and optical brighteners, which improve the visual aspect of the resin by reducing the yellowish tone, among others.

Completing the range of possibilities for companies that want to achieve their goals related to the environment, the portfolio of PCR masterbatches that use post-consumer resins as a vehicle will also be presented.

Commitment to sustainable development

“We want transformers to have sustainable alternatives, but with high quality and excellent performance in the process, contributing to targets for reducing carbon dioxide emissions, providing masterbatches free of heavy metals allowing for a higher quality PCR, that makes it possible to increase the use of post-consumer resins and renewable sources, making the recycling of its products feasible, among other possibilities. It is important for the plastics market to respond to society by seeking sustainable solutions that are aligned with the 2030 Agenda, having said that Cromex has been investing a lot in the last 10 years in innovation and sustainability” says Product Technology Coordinator Giovanni Dias.

Arburg France: Celebration to Open New Building

Arburg France: Celebration to Open New Building

  • New location: Arburg Technology Center (ATC) moves to Tremblay-en-France
  • High-profile delegation: Opening ceremony with Managing Partner, Renate Keinath, and Managing Director, Gerhard Böhm
  • Open House event: Live demonstrations and expert contributions

The Arburg subsidiary in France officially opened its new building on 14 September 2002 in Tremblay-en-France. High-profile representatives from Arburg headquarters, Renate Keinath, Managing Partner, and Gerhard Böhm, Managing Director Sales and Service, were present to celebrate the opening of the Arburg Technology Center (ATC) alongside the guests. During an Open House event held the next day, the visitors were able to see for themselves the many possibilities of the ATC. The programme included live demonstrations in the new showroom and expert presentations. In total, over 80 guests attended the two-day event.

On behalf of the entire organisation, Renate Keinath thanked the customers for their trust in Arburg: “Our successful cooperation over the past decades confirms to us that by opening a subsidiary in France in 1985, we took the right path.” The subsidiary in France is our oldest foreign location and is very important to Arburg. The concept of supporting customers on location has worked magnificently, and in the years that followed, we gradually rolled it out all over the world. “The great importance of the French market for Arburg is also reflected in the current investment in the new Arburg Technology Center,” said Renate Keinath. “This is a significant milestone for us and for our presence in France.”

Showroom as centrepiece
The new Arburg Technology Center in the industrial park in Tremblay-en-France in the Paris area has a floor space of over 1,500 square metres, and is thus around 40 percent larger than the previous location in Aulnay-sous-Bois. With an area of over 400 square metres, the showroom has space – depending on machine size – for up to four Allrounder injection moulding machines and for Freeformers. “We can show a representative cross-section of the Arburg portfolio here,” explained Renate Keinath. The machines are available for tests with customer moulds, as well as for training purposes. There are two training rooms, measuring over 100 square metres, for the theory part of the courses. “The entire infrastructure of the ATC is state of the art and ensures that customers and employees alike will feel completely at ease in the new premises,” said the Managing Partner.

Successful partnership
In his speech, Gerhard Böhm reviewed the history of the subsidiary. The foundation stone for Arburg’s international sales and service network was laid in 1985 with the foundation of the subsidiary in France. Today, the team in France comprises 26 employees, 15 of whom work in the Service division alone. As well as on-site service technician deployments, their tasks also include hotline support, the provision of spare parts, application technology advice and customer training. In addition, the subsidiary also supports customers in Morocco and Tunisia. “The Arburg France team handles these mammoth tasks with flying colours,” said Gerhard Böhm. The successful German-French partnership is also demonstrated at the Technology Days, where up to 200 visitors traditionally travel from France, making it one of the largest groups from abroad. In France itself, around 20 years ago, an Allrounder went on tour with the information and training truck, “Destination Plasturgie”, with the aim of introducing young people to the world of plastics, first in France, and later across Europe. A further example is the current cooperation with the plastics association Polyvia, and its Polyvia formation section, which will use the ATC’s excellent training possibilities for its courses in future.
“With the new ATC, we have created excellent conditions for continuing to foster outstanding cooperation with customers and partners in the future,” concluded Gerhard Böhm.

Open House: Focus on digitalisation and sustainability
The programme of the Open House included a guided tour for visitors, and live demonstrations of the machines. Afterwards, experts gave presentations on topics such as digitalisation, arburg green world, strategies on resource efficiency, and the circular economy. “The guests are impressed by the new building and the entire event,” Pascal Laborde was happy to report. “The building represents our desire to develop further, to modernise our injection moulds, our processes and our actions, in order to react even better to the needs of our customers.”

VDA President Hildegard Müller: “IAA Transportation is Breaking New Ground”

VDA President Hildegard Müller: “IAA Transportation is Breaking New Ground”

IAA Transportation has opened in Hanover – The leading international platform for transport and logistics with 1.402 exhibitors from 42 countries – the new concept covers the entire spectrum of transport and logistics – latest innovations can be seen live on site

VDA President Hildegard Müller together with Lower Saxony’s Prime Minister Stephan Weil and the Lord Mayor of Hanover, Belit Onay, opened IAA Transportation in Hanover on Tuesday morning. IAA Transportation is being held from September 20th to 25th at Deutsche Messe’s exhibition center in Hanover under the “People and Goods on the Move” slogan. The IAA Transportation concept has been further developed and partially reinvented, and it now covers the entire transport and logistics spectrum.

“It is impossible to imagine our everyday lives and a high-performance economy without commercial vehicles”, explained VDA President Hildegard Müller at the opening. “IAA Transportation will showcase the industry’s innovative and sustainable solutions, which are already making an enormous contribution to climate protection, and it will also provide interesting outlooks into the future of transport and logistics”.

Müller further explained: “It is also important for all of us that the industry can finally meet together again in person, especially with regard to the many challenges that we are facing. It was with a heavy heart that we had to cancel the last IAA due to the pandemic. The many current geopolitical and economic developments and challenges are also placing huge demands on the international commercial vehicle markets. All of this is happening in the midst of the greatest transformation that enables the industry to continually move ahead through innovations and investments.”

“This year we are breaking new ground with our new IAA Transportation concept and creating a holistic approach. The aim and main theme here is to be the first international platform in the transport sector to focus on the technological transformation that the entire transport and logistics sector is undergoing towards emission-free mobility for goods and people. We have deliberately created an open platform for all those involved in transport and it also provides plenty of room for new players and perspectives.

We are very pleased with the exhibition’s popularity: 1.402 exhibitors from 42 countries and almost two thirds of the exhibitors are from abroad. The industry’s entire spectrum is represented: infrastructure providers and companies from the tech sector will also be playing an important role here in addition to the manufacturers and suppliers of commercial vehicles, buses of all kinds as well as companies from the bodywork and trailer sectors. Visitors to IAA can experience – and try out for themselves – just how innovative and digitized the industry has become”, said Müller.

Part of our new IAA Transportation concept is making it possible for you to experience on-site the latest innovations and developments from the transport and logistics sectors. Various new formats have been developed as part of IAA Experiences that put greater emphasis on our visitors experiencing, trying out and interacting at IAA Transportation.

“Commercial vehicles with climate-friendly drive systems can be tested at the IAA Test Drive. Vehicle recharging will be demonstrated in our Plug & Play Campus and this will include the possibility of refueling with hydrogen. Transport, logistics and delivery solutions for the future can be seen in action in the Last Mile Area. Cargo bikes can also be tested under real conditions at our IAA Cargobike Parcours”, said VDA president Hildegard Müller.
