Archroma, a global leader in specialty chemicals, is taking a significant stride towards community welfare with the groundbreaking ceremony for Anganwadi Center No. 2 in the Umraya village, Baroda. This initiative is part of the company’s corporate social responsibility commitment to nurturing young minds and contributing to the well-being of the community.

Anganwadi, a centrally funded initiative established by states and union territories in India, plays a crucial role in rural child and maternal care. In 1975, the Integrated Child Development Services (ICDS) program was launched to address child hunger and malnutrition. Anganwadi centers provide essential services such as supplemental nutrition, pre-school non-formal education, immunizations, health check-ups, nutrition and health education, and referral services.

The groundbreaking ceremony was attended by key personnel from Archroma, including Mr. Andreas Wickli, Head of Global Technical Operations, Mr. Peet de Waal, Global Head of Safety Health and Environment, and Mr. Atul Ashtekar, Site Head Baroda, along with village leaders, community members, and Anganwadi representatives. The new center aims to create a child-friendly environment by incorporating sanitation facilities, waterproof ceilings, safe grills, storage facilities, and an audio-visual screen that is programmed with educational material to enhance children’s cognitive skills.

Mr. Wickli shared, “At Archroma, we are committed towards improving the livelihoods of communities, and we believe that creating a nurturing environment is critical in fostering early childhood development.” He added, “We are very proud to play a part in crafting a tomorrow that is sustainable, eco-conscious, and offering equal opportunities for everyone.”

The Anganwadi Center No. 2 project is in line with Archroma’s commitment to supporting the holistic development of children and addressing fundamental health needs for the underprivileged. As part of the broader community engagement, Archroma will also contribute to the renovation of other Anganwadi centers in the village.

The new grade of Pevalen features 100% renewable carbon content based on mass balance, applying chemical and  physical traceability. By factoring in the biogenic CO2 uptake from its renewable raw materials, Pevalen Pro 100 offers a product  carbon footprint reduction of approximately 80% relative to its fossil-based equivalent from cradle to Perstorp gate.

At Chinaplas, which takes place from 23 to 26 April 2024, Arburg will present itself as a comprehensive technology and system partner for the efficient production of plastic parts. At stand D 42 in hall 4.1, the focus will be on applications for the automotive and medical industries. Three Allrounder exhibits will demonstrate the fully automatic overmoulding of inserts, the processing of liquid silicone (LSR) and the production of sophisticated medical components. In addition to injection moulding technology, Arburg will showcase additive manufacturing and automation and offer trade visitors comprehensive and individual advice in the interactive arburgSOLUTIONworld exhibition area.

The unique interactive exhibition area “arburgSOLUTIONworld” is not only an eye-catcher, but also offers trade visitors real added value. Arburg experts will be on hand at five stations around a four-metre-high LED column to provide customised consultations – for example on the use of the arburgXworld customer portal and the Arburg host computer system ALS. Other key topics include increasing efficiency through automation, advice on injection moulds, the arburg green world sustainability programme and all aspects of service and training.

Injection moulding highlights and automation

At the Arburg Technology Factory Pinghu, machines are built to customer specifications, automated if necessary and tested intensively. This also applies to the Chinaplas exhibits, where automation components and moulds also come from Asian suppliers. This includes an Allrounder 1600 T rotary table machine, which overmoulds metal inserts with glass fibre-reinforced PA6 in a 4-cavity mould from Concraft to produce connecting parts for the mobility sector. The demanding handling tasks in this turnkey system are performed by a Kuka six-axis robot.

The Allrounder 470 H with innovative hybrid machine technology is another highlight. It is particularly good at saving energy and conserving resources, and is efficient in production, user-friendly and reliable. The new machine from the Hidrive series was presented for the first time in the anniversary year 2023 and has been available worldwide together with the sizes 520 and 570 since spring 2024. The exhibit manufactures adapters from polycarbonate for medical technology and is automated with a Flexlift. This linear robotic system from Arburg is designed as an entry-level solution for the automated production of moulded parts and is available exclusively for the Asian market.

The third injection moulding exhibit, an electric Allrounder 470 E Golden Electric, produces precise LSR components for the automotive industry. The machine is equipped with an 8-cavity mould and is also automated with a Flexlift linear robotic system. 

Industrial additive manufacturing

At Chinaplas 2024, Arburg will be demonstrating the benefits and added value that can be achieved through industrial additive manufacturing with a Freeformer. Using Arburg Plastic Freeforming (APF), functional parts, operating equipment and robotic grippers can be 3D printed based on original plastic granulates, even from very soft materials and in hard/soft combinations.

Messe Düsseldorf expands its competencies in Türkiye adding three new, powerful satellites to its global metal trade fair portfolio with the important international trade fairs for the metallurgy, foundry and aluminium industries ANKIROS/TURKCAST and ALUEXPO. Ioniqa Technologies B.V. (‘Ioniqa’) is pleased to announce a significant growth investment by  Infinity Recycling (‘IRC’)’s Circular Plastics Fund to help accelerate the scale-up and roll out of  its enhanced PET Polyester recycling technology. 

Ioniqa’s innovative technology upcycles low-grade post-consumer plastic waste to a virgin-like  quality feedstock. With the ability to process coloured plastic waste flakes Ioniqa’s technology  offers a solution to process PET waste that is currently non-recyclable, creating a recycled  material suitable for high quality food grade applications. Ioniqa has successfully demonstrated  this technology in an industrial production facility in The Netherlands, and is now bringing it to  market with strategic licensing partner Koch Technology Solutions.

The management of MHM Holding GmbH is being reorganised. The previous CEO, Heiner Klokkers, has left the company. Two long-standing top managers are moving up to the management of the holding company. Taner Bicer, responsible for the Group’s Chemicals Division, and Carsten Zölzer, Head of the Offset Division, are joining the Management Board of MHM Holding GmbH. Both will also
remain Managing Directors of hubergroup Deutschland GmbH and retain their current responsibilities.

Together with Britta Hübner, responsible for the transformation of the group, they will form the Management Board of MHM Holding GmbH. Britta Hübner comments on the change in management: “Heiner Klokkers has played a key role in shaping the company in recent years and initiated the reorganisation of the Group. Now it is time to take the next step, to strengthen the Group’s financial power and to drive it forward operationally. INEOS Styrolution, the world’s leading styrenics supplier will be showcasing it’s circular  ECO product line for the Healthcare and Packaging industries at this year’s Pharmapack  tradeshow, January 24-25, 2024, in Paris France. INEOS Styrolution has made significant strides in bringing new sustainable products to market,  both based on innovative recycling technologies as well as integrating renewable bio-based  solutions. Dr. Eisenträger’s presentation will highlight how customers can use bio-attributed  polymers to reduce carbon emissions without compromising product safety. With certified bio circular raw materials, polymers can be produced to enable our customers to meet their lower  carbon emissions targets. In fact, with certain styrenics from INEOS Styrolution, 100%  emissions reduction can be achieved, depending on the applied methodology.

The company is known for offering sustainable plug-in “ECO” solutions for most of its product  portfolio in addition to conventionally produced styrenics materials. A good example is the company’s recently introduced ASA grade to address the growing market of small medical  devices for home and hospital: Luran S MED 797S SPF30, one of the first ASA materials in  the market specifically for medical device housings, is also available as bio-circular version Luran S ECO MED 797S SPF30 BC40 with a 40% renewable content resulting in a carbon  footprint reduction of up to 52%, all based on a mass balance process certified under ISCC  PLUS. 

There are a range of commercial healthcare applications based on sustainable ECO materials  currently under development. One application example using INEOS Styrolution’s bio-circular  grade NAS ECO 21 BC701 can be found at booth J41 during Pharmapack 2024. The British  

company Eco-inject will exhibit their sustainable single use autoinjector device for pre-filled  syringes.  

INEOS Styrolution also offers three dedicated HD (healthcare/diagnostics) styrenics packages for the healthcare industry: 

  1. Full-Service HD Package (risk class I and II applications): Grades come with a  notification of change (NOC) term up to 36 months with a signed, long-term supply  contract. Grades include Novodur HD, Terlux HD, and Luran HD.

Specialty chemicals company LANXESS has completed the expansion of its production capacity for sustainable light-color sulfur carriers by several kilotons. The project, with an investment volume in the double-digit millions, was completed at the Mannheim site in around two years as planned. The additional volumes will be available from 2024.

“Sustainability is becoming an increasingly important topic for our customers,” says Neelanjan Banerjee, Head of the LANXESS Lubricant Additives Business (LAB). “With our sustainable light-color sulfur carriers, we have the right offering to meet customer needs and further expand our market position in Extreme Pressure additives”.

Reduce wear and avoid cold welding

LANXESS offers a broad range of Extreme Pressure additives under the brand names Additin EP and Scopeblue Additin EP. They are highly effective in reducing wear on metal surfaces and prevent cold welding. These additives are used in metalworking fluids, as well as greases, gear oils and slideway oils.

Lindner at IFAT 2024: Shredding Innovations and Integrated System Solutions for the Mechanical and Chemical Recycling of Valuable Materials

 

Spittal/Drau (Austria), February 2024. At this year’s IFAT in Hall B6, Booth 251/350, Lindner will be  showcasing product innovations in shredding as well as efficient system solutions. The focus will be  on classic input materials such as commercial, industrial and municipal solid waste, waste wood and  scrap, and the mechanical and chemical recovery of plastics. At an expert talk on the Orange Stage,  Lindner will also present innovative approaches to successfully address chemical recycling demands.

‘Be A Waste Transformer’ – with this guiding principle in mind, Lindner focuses on the client, their individual  needs and the implementation of all-in-one solutions. As a recycling pioneer and manufacturer with decades  of experience in waste management and plastics recycling, Lindner draws on extensive expertise.  

Innovating the recycling process 

Lindner will be presenting two new products at IFAT 2024. The new stationary universal shredder with twin shaft technology is primarily geared towards waste wood, industrial and commercial waste and scrap. The  second product innovation, an electrically powered semi-mobile single-shaft shredder with an independent  track drive, covers an even wider range of input materials thanks to its modular cutting system. ‘We are looking  forward to showcasing our semi-mobile single-shaft shredder. The modular cutting system means it offers  maximum flexibility. Depending on the material stream and the output material requirements, you can choose  between a blade or pointed knife system. We will also be exhibiting these two rotor variants at IFAT 2024,’  says Gerd Tischner, Sales Manager at Lindner. 

Cutting system innovations 

The Komet series, the benchmark in secondary shredding, offers improved ease of maintenance thanks to  screwable knife holders. In addition, a new Urraco shaft pair will be showcased, which has been specifically  developed for scrap recycling and significantly increases efficiency. If used as a coarse primary shredder  upstream of a hammer mill or a cross flow shredder, it considerably maximises the hammer mill’s output and  reduces the need for maintenance. 

System solutions for mechanical and chemical recycling 

As a manufacturer of shredding solutions, Lindner has had an in-house engineering department for decades  that offers all-in-one mechanical and chemical recycling solutions.
